Mighty Machines

Full Day Camp

From bulldozers to phones, machines are all around us. Experiment to find out how they work and what makes them different, and even invent your own!

Admission to the Maryland Science Center includes three floors of exhibits. The Planetarium is included with your admission, however there are specific showtimes and all shows are on a first come, first seated basis.

We strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance and have waived our online service fees. Admission is valid for all day. You may arrive at any time during open hours.

***If you are joining a school group, do not purchase general admission tickets online, please report to the Group Check-in Desk to purchase your discounted admission ticket.  You will be allowed to purchase your ticket once your school group checks-in.***  

Note to Members: When reserving member exhibit tickets, you should not be asked to enter any payment information unless visiting with more patrons than your current level admits free per day. If you are showing a balance due, please double check your membership level (you can upgrade at our ticket desk), ensure you are active, registered and signed in. To reserve free member exhibit tickets, membership must be active. Expired members need to renew online or at the ticket desk before reserving free exhibit member tickets. 

Visitors utilizing ASTC Passport Program benefits must show a valid, visiting member card in person at the ticket desk. ASTC Passport Program reciprocal member exhibit tickets cannot be reserved in advance.

Full Day Camp

Beakers and test tubes wait for you to get to work mixing chemicals and conducting experiments. Measure, mix, and make observations while you carry out scientific investigations and cause some radical reactions.

Access Science

This program is for Maryland residents only

The Maryland Science Center is committed to removing as many obstacles to participation as possible to ensure that all Marylanders have access to its exhibits and programs. Access Science allows anyone holding a Maryland SNAP or Maryland WIC card to purchase up to four tickets to the Science Center for $5 per person.

Admission to the Maryland Science Center includes three floors of exhibits. From astronomy to paleontology, the human body to physics and phenomena, the Science Center is packed with innovative exhibits that demonstrate the wonders of scientific discovery with a focus on open-ended exploration.

The Davis Planetarium is included with your admission, however there are specific showtimes and all shows are on a first come, first seated basis. The IMAX theater is available at an additional cost. IMAX tickets can only be purchased on site.  Click here to see our current hours.

• Ticket are only available during the weekend during the school year
• Tickets must be reserved online in advance, same day sales are not available

• Children 2 and younger must be registered as "Toddler" and will receive free admission

Astronaut Training Camp

Astronauts are the pioneers of the universe. Spend the week launching rockets, exploring the curious mysteries of outer space, and training for an extended stay on Mars.

Star Explorers
Session # 5 August 3rd – August 7th, 2026 Full Day
Ages 6-7

Climb into your space capsule and explore the night sky. Travel through the universe, look for signs of life, and share stories about the stars. Take a seat in Mission Control and practice launching and landing a spacecraft in out mew exhibit-Space.

Earn all 3 of your Automotive Engineering workshop at the Maryland Science Center’s in-person workshop. We will learn about the design process as we sketch and sculpt vehicle features. Build prototypes and then figure out the most efficient way to manufacture enough cars for everyone in the workshop.

Fossil Frenzy

Discover what it takes to be a paleontologist. Learn how fossils form and what they can tell you about ancient life. Use logic to figure out ancient mysteries and protect a fossil to take home by making a plaster jacket.

Medieval Masters

Ages 10-11

Explore the inner workings of medieval life! From concocting potions with the court alchemist to engineering the mechanics of siege engines, apprentice with different guilds as you work through the week to build a castle fit for medieval times.

Robotics Workshop

Brownies:

Earn all 3 of your Brownie Robotics badges at the Maryland Science Center’s in-person workshop. Brownies will learn about robots and programming and build a prototype using easily accessible materials. Once your prototype is complete showcase it to your fellow roboticists for feedback. This workshop will be a combined event with Junior Girl Scouts. 

Juniors:

Earn all 3 of your Junior Robotics badges at the Maryland Science Center’s in-person workshop. Juniors will learn about robots, use software to program a robot, and build a prototype using easily accessible materials. Rain Barrel Workshop

Designed for ages 12+. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

$80 per barrel; max of 4 people per barrel.

Build your own rain barrel at this hands-on workshop and get ready for the next big rain! Tickets are per barrel, and up to four people can work together on one barrel, making it a fun family project. You’ll learn how rain barrels help capture roof runoff, reduce stormwater impact, and provide a convenient water source for your yard. Instructions and tools will be provided, but it does not include materials to connect the barrel to your downspout. You’ll leave with a finished rain barrel, step-by-step guidance, and ideas for how to install it at home.

DIY Planter Box

Description: We will be making our own tabletop planters for this workshop in MAKE. Attendees will learn how to safely use hammers, power drills, and scroll saws. With these new skills you can cut and assemble your own piece to take home. What will you put in your new planter?

Exhibits Admission

Admission to the Maryland Science Center includes three floors of exhibits. The Davis Planetarium is included with your admission, however there are specific showtimes and all showtimes and all shows are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The default date for purchasing the voucher is Christmas Day, but you have the flexibility to redeem it for any date. Vouchers are valid for 1 year and must be redeemed on site, online redemption is not currently available. Telescope Training

Times: 11:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm

Cost: $10 per training session

Do you have a telescope gathering dust? Were you gifted a telescope, but aren’t quite sure how to use it?

Bring your telescope to this hands-on session designed for those eager to learn how to set up, align, and confidently use their own telescope. Our instructors will walk you through the basics of telescope operation, provide tips for getting the best views, and introduce you to simple sky navigation techniques to help you find planets, stars, and constellations.

Each participating group will have a 45-minute time slot, ensuring focused guidance and plenty of time to ask questions. Whether you're brand new to stargazing or looking to sharpen your skills, this event will give you the tools and confidence to explore the cosmos from your own backyard.

You must have tickets to the Maryland Science Center for the day of the event to purchase these add-on tickets.

If the observatory closes due to inclement weather conditions, you will be given the option to either work with our instructor inside or have your ticket refunded.

Urban Astronomy

Saturday, April 18th – 8:30-9:30pm

Think city lights make stargazing impossible? Think again!

Join us for Urban Astronomy, a special workshop where you'll get a guided tour of the nighttime sky—right from the roof of the Maryland Science Center. Using our observatory and smaller telescopes, you'll have the chance to view planets, bright stars, and other celestial highlights that shine through urban light pollution.

Our expert guides will point out visible constellations, share tips for stargazing in the city, and explain what makes the autumn sky unique. Come see what the city sky has to offer!

If the observatory closes due to inclement weather conditions, the scheduled rain date is Saturday, April 25. If you can’t make the rain date, your tickets will be refunded in full. 

This ticket grants access to the observatory only and does not include admission to other exhibits within the Maryland Science Center.

Resin Crab or Wave

Designed for ages 8+

Unleash your creativity with MK Glass Designs and dive into the world of resin art with our UV Resin class where you can design a Crab or Wave. Join us for a one-of-a-kind experience and let your imagination run wild as you create stunning glass art.

Stained Glass Crab Workshop

Designed for ages 8+

Join MK Glass Designs to make your very own stained glass crab. Your crab will be cut and grinded for you. You will foil and solder. Great for beginners!
